Welcome to Cygnets Class
Cygnets is an energetic, friendly class of Reception children aged 4-5. We have a wonderful bright airy classroom filled with fun and challenging resources that enable the children to learn through play and exploration. We are so lucky to also provide a beautiful outdoor area with walk in sand pit, dry river bed and climbing area that enables to children to learn, explore, play and build positive relationships developing many of the skills they will need moving forward on their journey.
Our children learn both in our indoor and outdoor environments by accessing our continuous provision through a play based curriculum that is enhanced with rich and varied experiences from visiting adults, curiosity objects, themed days and much more. We plan in the moment according to the children’s interests but also expose them to a rich and varied curriculum. During the first half of the Autumn Term we focus on getting to know each other whilst beginning children on their phonic and mathematical journey leading to early reading and problem solving throughout the year.
We have 3 adults in the class, Mrs Rayner, Miss Christian and Miss Adams to facilitate, support, plan and challenge children’s learning to ensure they make the progress that we strive for.
We use the Early Excellence programme to record and track children’s progress and Class Dojo to support home/school communication. On Class Dojo you can message the teacher directly and view photos and videos to see what we have been learning together as a class.
Towards the end of the year, we complete the EYFS profile, which informs both parents and teachers about the development of their child in their Early Learning Goals and the characteristics of their learning. This enables a supportive and smooth transition into Key Stage One.
