Welcome to Robins Class
Robins are taught by Mrs Chapman on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and also by Mrs Holgate and Mrs Everitt on a Wednesday. Other support staff include Mrs Beavis and Mrs C.
About Our Class
In Robins we are building up the children’s formal learning sessions with some choosing time planned into each day. We are trying to help the children to become independent learners and also to develop a good attitude to learning. During choosing time, the children are encouraged to try out the challenges which are linked to various areas of learning. These challenges are planned with 2 different levels of activity so the children can choose the level they feel comfortable with. Dojo points are awarded once these challenges are completed.
We will listen to the children read regularly during SFA sessions and also on a Friday when their class reading books will be changed. Roots books will be sent home every 3 days which will support the reading completed in SFA lessons.
A big focus at the moment is on helping the children to develop good phonics knowledge of letter sounds so that they can become confident readers and writers. We have daily phonics sessions and also planned games or activities which children can access during the afternoons.
The children have PE on a Tuesday- This session is taught by Miss Dangerfield.
We visit the school library once a week on a Thursday afternoon which gives all children the chance to take home a different book each week so please do share these with your child.
